Version 4.0: Fujifilm Film Simulations

Overview

Version 4.0 introduces a new Film Sims section to PhotoLab35, providing a collection of custom Fujifilm film simulation recipes designed specifically for the Fujifilm X-T20.

The recipes are based on films used during the 1980s and translate their remembered character into the X-T20's built-in film simulations and image settings. The collection is presented as a dedicated Film Sims gallery, with each film represented by its box art and linked directly to its individual recipe page.

The Six Film Simulation Recipes

  1. AGFA Color DX XR 200 — PRO Neg. Hi, Daylight with +4 Red / -5 Blue, Colour +1, Highlight -1, Shadow +1, Sharpness -1, Noise Reduction -4, Weak grain and DR100. The recipe is intended to provide a warm, colourful interpretation with a pronounced warm daylight bias.

  2. Fujicolor DX HR100 — Velvia Vivid, Auto White Balance with +1 Red / -2 Blue, Colour -1, Highlight 0, Shadow +1, Sharpness +1, Noise Reduction -3, Weak grain and DR100. The recipe is intended to retain vivid colour while moderating the Velvia rendering.

  3. Ilford HP5 Plus 400 — ACROS with the Red filter, Auto White Balance, Shadow +2, Sharpness -1, Noise Reduction -3 and Weak grain. This is the collection's black-and-white recipe, using the Red filter for stronger tonal separation and deeper skies.

  4. Kodak Gold 200 — Classic Chrome, Daylight with +4 Red / -5 Blue, Colour +3, Highlight -2, Shadow +1, Sharpness -2, Noise Reduction -4 and Strong grain. The recipe is deliberately warm and nostalgic, with stronger analogue-style texture.

  5. Konica Super SR 100 — Classic Chrome, Auto White Balance with +2 Red / -2 Blue, Highlight +2, Shadow +1, Colour +2, Sharpness +1, Noise Reduction -4 and Weak grain. The recipe uses a controlled warm bias with increased colour and tonal definition.

  6. Yashica Golden 80s — Classic Chrome, Daylight with +4 Red / -5 Blue, Colour +3, Highlight Tone +1, Highlights +1, Shadows +1, Sharpness 0 and Noise Reduction -4. The recipe is designed as a warm, nostalgic interpretation of the retro 1980s character.

Common Recipe Structure

Each recipe page uses the same general structure so that the collection is easy to read and compare. Every page presents the film name, a short description, the recipe settings, simulation characteristics, and an explanation of the intended overall character.

Recipe Pages

Film Box Art

The Film Sims gallery uses individual film box-art images as the visual entry point to each recipe. The six images are stored alongside the HTML pages so the complete Film Sims section can be moved or uploaded as a self-contained group.

Compatibility

These recipes were built specifically around the Fujifilm X-T20, released in 2017. They may also work on other Fujifilm cameras, but compatibility is not assumed to be identical. Where another Fujifilm model has different film simulations, controls or available settings, a recipe may need minor adjustment.

Design & Presentation

The new Film Sims pages follow the established PhotoLab35 visual identity: clean white backgrounds, Poppins headings, IBM Plex Sans body text, restrained borders and the PhotoLab35 orange accent. The result is intended to make the Film Sims section feel like a natural part of the existing PhotoLab35 site rather than a separate collection of unrelated pages.
